EBCC Fall Club Ride / Picnic Rides canceled, PICNIC IS ON...October 13th

It's finally been decided...Saturday, October 13th is the fall ride / picnic...and we will be changing it up a little.

We will gather at Brewery Legitimus (Rt. 44 just east of New Hartford) for a 9:30AM departure, splitting into appropriate groups of a B Ride and a C Ride. Routes will be posted during the upcoming week. Upon our return, we will have your voucher for a complimentary brew, and a spread of sandwiches and salads from Nardelli's Deli in Torrington.

EBCC will provide other drinks as well, but we welcome 5 people's offerings of homemade desserts (we always love that!).

This is always a fun way to wrap up a great year of riding. We will also be able to talk about some ideas for next year and even throughout the winter.

So, if we are not too late...please mark your calendars and come join us. Current memberships for EBCC are a must. A separate email will be sent with more details and a requested RSVP...however, you can always RSVP your attendance here.

Hope to see you on October 13th!

Turns out I won't be there for the morning but will join in the festivities at 12:30. Thanks, Andy

Patricia and I are running Hartford Half that morning, will try to join in for the after-ride party.

Sounds great. I will be there and will bring a desert

I will be there.

I definitely have it on my calendar and could possibly show up. Don't all Past Presidents get free beer?

In reply to wpprescott

All past and present club presidents will receive a complementary beer, as will any club member who attends.

Here are the proposed routes for the picnic rides.

C - ride : Ride Leader needed. Any Volunteers? (email pmcunningham@charter.net)

C ride

B - Ride : Ride Leaders Pat and Jan

B Ride

Both rides will head out from Legitimus (the old Waring Building) at 9:30AM. The post ride picnic feast will begin around 12:30. If we have bad weather the rides may or may go but the picnic part will still be on.

Thanks Pat. I see that the C ride is 18 miles. Since C rides average about 12 mph, the ride will get back to the Brewery around 10:30. That’s a lot of waiting around for lunch. Perhaps the C ride should start later?

Also, Jan’s message up thread says 9:30 departure, yours says 9. Which is it?

In reply to hmprescott

Thanks for catching the typo Heather. The rides should head out around 9:30.

I tried to keep the B and C rides to the same distance as last year. That being said, if the C ride reaches Riverton and looks to be on track for an earlier than planned arrival there is always the option to go up Hogsback road, over the dam and return on Riverton road. I had that in the original route but trimmed it to keep the total mileage similar to the 2017 route. I will leave this decision, start time and total mileage, to the ride leaders. Don has offered to lead the C ride but we should additional ride leaders. Interested?

In for lunch. Likely out for the official rides because of obligations on the homefront. If that’s the case, I’ll probably ride directly to the picnic from Simsbury on a mixed surface route later in the AM if anyone else wants to tag along.

Count me in for the picnic and sign me up as leader for a C+ ride, splitting off in Riverton for a trip up Hogsback or maybe a dumpsteresque 2nd lap around E River / W River. (TBD once we see how the group feels in Riverton). - Jeff

That’s tempting, too.

In for C+. #FVYC

Sounds good to me.

In reply to Jan

Hi...please count me as a 'yes' for the ride/post ride activities. Thx.

In reply to cotej

I’d prefer to go up to the dam.

I plan to be there for ride and food........and to drink Wayne's free beer when he's not looking.

All, Greg has offered to put together a middle distance ride for Saturday. For the sake of nomenclature and positivity Don will lead the C ride route, Greg and Co. will lead the soon to be posted B route and we are renaming the original B to the B+ ride lead by Jan and yours truely. Once the new B route is posted I will continue to clog everyone’s email in baskets with another message. Just remember, all rides end with beer! Pat
