RFTCC-Wingbiter Friday 12/5: Riverton Luminary Ride

The ride will begin in New Hartford center at 6 pm. All weenies who did not take part in Black Friday's Winter Wonderland Ride are hereby ordered to attend. Walt tells me that this Friday is Riverton's annual festival of lights. Accordingly, our route will traverse Riverton twice: Here's what I'm thinking

Should the weather not cooperate, as is now predicted by the NWS (increasing chance of rain and snow after 1PM), could we consider a change to mountain or cross bikes and perhaps ride up east river road, then maybe climb up Greenwoods and descend back down 20 into Riverton, to return home via east or west river?

I will be in southern California. Have a safe ride.

Good suggestion, Doug. Stay tuned. As the weather outlook becomes clearer toward the end of the week, I'll post something.

Great suggestion Bruce - Friday night in SoCal - I'm sure they have wings and beer too.
Bruce get me a ticket.

My road bike is on the disabled list. So i would prefer mountain bikes

Okay, vote here to tell me which you prefer: Road bikes or Cross/Mountain bikes?

In reply to CrossBikeRedPants

I like the cx/mtb ride but I'm in for either as long as it's not too rainy or snowy. Not gonna be a wiener 2 weeks in a row.

I'm leaning toward MTB myself, I have one road bike completely disassembled and the other isn't rideable at the moment.

Maybe another reason not to use MapMyRide - every time I click on a route link I get prompted to download malware:

Read about it here

You post to the thread; you commit to the ride, and a fireball.

And miss the Holiday Open House? I hear they're serving titanium hors d'oeuvres.

MTB - was thinking of riding it eitherway note: didn't see the route ~avoiding viruses~ but if were going up Greenwoods I don't believe to too harsh that a road bike couldn't be used

I rode it last year on my road bike and was fine with everything - other than you tying or beating me to the peak on your MTB. That hurt a little.

Gee, I was just about to get that ticket for you to Southern California. I guess I am going without ya

Fireball shots?? Ok, I'm in and vote for CX or MTN bikes.

NO NO NO - I'm just giving the others ideas. Hate to see anyone not have a chance to ride in the cold. Unlike us.

30% chance of light snow after 4PM. I vote for MTB.

The votes have been tallied. Road bikes: 0. Mountain bikes: 6. Put a mountain bike on your car before work tomorrow morning.

That goes for you too!
