Hey! When the hill is HellFest?????

In reply to Neuron1

Just received this email from the town: East Hill Road Construction

East Hill Road from Wilders Pass to Bahre Corner Road will be reclaimed on Wednesday, June 22, 2016. The work will begin at approximately 9:30 AM and continue until 4:00 PM. Emergency vehicles and local traffic will be allowed to pass. Please use caution when approaching the area and expect delays. Please contact Canton DPW at (860) 693-7863 with any questions. Thank you for your patience and cooperation!

Would you guys mind if I show up with a Tri bike? I'll stay out of the aero bars and to the back of the pack. I need some training hitting the hills on this bike. If it's a problem let me know and I'll show up with the road bike.

I live on E Hill - I recieved from the town that they are paving and finishing East Hill on .... wait for it.... Wednesday morning and the work will be done by 4pm! it's possible we may be the first cyclists to ride the newly paved section... Lets keep the route as planned, when I roll down shortly after 5pm I'll scout out the status of the road and if we need to make a last min adjustment to the start of the route we can.

Unconditional faith in government. You must be one of them socialists.

Question: Does anyone have good advice for a training plan and/or how to prepare for the Hillfest? I realized I need to get on it since it's....TOMORROW?!? Oh geez...

By my estimate this is the 15th Annual Hillfest if you start counting with the year it was resurrected. Just like Jesus.

Many of us rode the Vermont Gran Fondo as training for HillFest wink. Next year you will have to join the Secret Hillfest International Training Series to get ready. mountain_bicyclist

Solid work on the acronym Brent!

Surprise! Road work not done as Canton said. The route as it is, is passable and it's only a few hundred feet. i would say to proceed with caution.

Someone remember for next year, we should definitely consider what I have suggested for years. Add one more hill. At least for the front of the A group. We were back with a 1/2 hour of daylight to spare. Hillfest has become too easy. No one puked, fell over, bailed and went home, or started crying. I did get stung by a hornet in the Canton HS parking lot and my forearm swelled up like a golf ball but...I digress.

After Satan's Elbow we'd come straight down Wright Road, take a right on 179, then a left and climb N. Mountain. Right at the top on E. Hill then right and back down E. Mountain (the current final climb). Left on 179 and then finish going up Morgan, which is the first descent of Hillfest. It would bring a whole closure, yin and yang, Circle of Life, ebony and ivory feel to the event.

Wayne, that would get the stomachs rolling for sure. If searing unbearable pain & drooling is the goal, this is the way to do it. I vote yes, but probably live to regret it. We actually almost went up N. Mountain last night as there was discussion about the true route.

According to the EBCC Bylaws the President analyzes each hill segment on Strava*, awards points to the fastest riders based on a Tour de France HC KOM scale, and tallies up the results. Does anyone know where results are posted? The protest period ends in 24 hours and I want to file some protests.

In keeping with the current national politics and in view of the failure of our local government to fix this road on time as planned, I'm planning a SIT - IN on one of the unpaved/gravel/hazardous portions of E. Hill tonight at 12:00 am. Who's with me? We'll sit there until the road is fixed. Meet you there. We'll show them.

Ok tough guy, Hillfest is too easy for you! Here's a thought; if you want to make it tougher, why don't you just try doing two loops instead of one? That way, those mere mortals who leave a half hour before you and finish a half hour after you can do their suffering without having heavy hitters like you sneer about how easy it is.

To get home I already have a climb roughly equivalent to Morgan so no thanks. I am good.

I have a better idea. We break the group into "climbers" and "non-climbers" (you know who you are). Each time we pass Dunkin Donuts in New Hartford, the climbers must go to the drive-thru and consume a jelly donut before each of the climbs. Seems fair to me.

Make that a rule and I'll show up next year!

I made a video from the ride [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ot7kD92EDEg]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ot7kD92EDEg)
