Specialized Shiv Aerobar recall

i saw this on bikeradar today.

Specialized is recalling the Carbon Aerobars with Aero Stem and Hydroformed Alloy Aerobars, which were sold on model year 2012-2015 Specialized Shiv complete bikes (excluding Shiv TT and Shiv framesets) and on the 2013 Specialized Transition Apex.

"We have identified a potential problem with the aerobar extension mounting hardware," Specialized road category marketing manager Mark Cote told BikeRadar. "Our concern is the extension clamp bolt may break, which could result in the rider losing control. We initiated a voluntary report with the Consumer Product Safety Commission and are working closely with them on approval of a new extension clamp kit which solves the concern."

Specialized requested that all riders with these bars stop using them immediately.

According to Specialized, only the original mounting hardware kit is in question; the Shiv Low-Stack Aerobar Kit is not affected.

Cote said Specialized expects to have more information released by March 2, and any new information will be posted at http://www.specialized.com/us/en/support/safety-notices.
