Looking For a Little Help For a Great Cause

Hi, I hope many of you will remember me. I haven't been on my bike for over two years. It was just about two years ago that my wife was diagnosed with mesothelioma. For those that don't know, it's a rare form of cancer caused by asbestos exposure. It's the second deadliest cancer there is and unfortunately research is very under funded. There is no cure and very few treatment options. About 3,000 people a year are diagnosed with it and the same number die from it.

Because it is not well known, many "Meso Warriors" as they are called, run fundraisers to help with research and an eventual cure. The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, better known as the Meso Foundation or curemeso.org is a highly rated non-profit charity that has helped us tremendously as they help many, many others with this horrible disease.

My wife and I are running a fundraiser with every penny going to curemeso.org. It will be a dinner dance at the Elk's Lodge in Torrington on April 30th. There will be a live band, Steppin' Out who are donating their time & there will also be raffles & auctions.

Please check out crowdrise.com/meso4life to read more about what my wife has been through. While there you can register for the event or make a donation if you are able.

Looking around the forum I am glad to see some familiar names. I hope some of you can make it to the event. It should be a great night out and will benefit a great cause. Thanks, Paul

I mentioned this event while at the EBCC Spring Kick Off Dinner last week. Paul goes back to early days of riding with the club and even being on the jersey when people even raced in the jersey. I am sorry for what you and Sarah have been going through but have great respect for the fight and the commitment to helping raise funds for the research! You will hear from us and I will continue to encourage others to join you on April 30th, or contribute in any ways that they can. We will see you again and wish you both strength and healing! Jan and Doug
