Wingbiter 12/4- Traditional Wingbiter Luminary Ride?

Greg, Riverton will have their luminaries out on Friday, Dec. 4. Please advise if this annual tradition will continue, or if it, like so many other traditions that make up the moral fiber of our country, will simply fall by the wayside. Your proposed route from last year: Route

Here's what a core group of Wingbiters came up with today. We rode this route several years ago.

Wingbiter Riverton Luminary Ride

I like it. We can always throw in an extra East River / West River lap if the weather is nice. Already charging my lights.

This will never get us in shape for Pittsburgh's Dirty Dozen next year. Which we're doing.

Walt, I do believe you are the first person ever to include "moral fiber" in a Wingbiter post

My bad.

Is that like roughage for the soul?

We'll have to think about this while we're riding past the luminaries in Riverton this Friday: We must get ready for this! Fear not! I have some excellent training rides planned.

Sounds fun. See you then.

And Greg, here's another epic ride we must do.

That does look epic, and a hell of a lot closer than Pittsburgh. We should look into this seriously.

132 miles, 11,000 feet of climbing, 10 hours (Jim can do it in under 8, but I can't), plus 1-2 hours of breaks to eat and refuel, on June 14 (6 months to train, three of them in the dead of winter). And check out the video. The guy in Vermont is all a-freakin'-lone, in contrast to the people on Canton Ave. in Pittsburgh who look like they're having a blast.

I vote Yes on the Pittsburg initiative. (37%) I vote Yes on the Vermont Initiative. (24%) I vote Yes on the Smith Hill Initiative. (7%)

June 14, 2016 is a Tuesday. Umm, how does that work?

In reply to Dr.Bruce

2016 date of theVermont gran Fondo is June 4, but we could go up anytime and do it. Routes are all on Strava, ridewithe gps.

All I'm saying is, I'm getttin' a freakin' T-shirt if I do this...

The Vermont Gran Fondo is different from six gaps. Here's the Link. Notice that no one is wearing a "Vermont Gran Fondo" cycling shirt, as they do in New York. But they do have an after party that starts at 5 pm, which means even I will be done in time to attend.
