Tuesday (9/29) Off-Road Night Ride (CP) - Simsbury
As of Monday morning, the weather for Tuesday evening does not look good. Check back here for a go/no-go call on Tuesday afternoon.
Time: 6:30pm
Location: Commuter lot at the intersection of Wilcox Street and Iron Horse Blvd, Simsbury (Behind the Bank of America drive-up ATM).
What: Off-road, night-time cyclocross/mountain bike ride. Mix of rail trail, dirt roads and singletrack trails throughout the Farmington Valley. Keep your road bikes at home.
What should I bring?: Handlebar or helmet light (or both), rear strobe light, bike clothing appropriate for the weather (it can get cold after sunset). Also a change of clothes for a post-ride beer at one of the local pubs within walking distance. And, of course, money to buy beer for the ride leaders.
Route: Yes, there will be one.
Probability of Pope Sightings: Low. I think he went back to Rome.
As of 3:20 pm, most of the rain is staying to the west. Dry in Simsbury, but there are some scattered showers in Eastern CT. Will make a decision by 5:00 pm.
You make the call, John; I trust your judgment. (Pssst! Ride!)
I think we're okay to ride. We'll do a loop that gives us some bailout points just in case.
