Tuesday 8/25 Simsbury CP Ride - Final August 2015 Ride
This week has three climbs in the first half with Gracey, Bunker Hill & Case St. then it's a descent and flat the second half. 25mi and 2000ft of climb. Weather looks iffy, but we have time. Sunset is dropping quick, down to 7:39pm. If it's overcast I'd cut out Gracey climb which brings it down by 4 miles.

- Left on Gracey, right on E. Hill, Left on N. Mountain (careful with NO run-out and sand at the bottom) (Regroup
- Left on RT-179/Cherrybrook, Right on Barbourtown, Right on Bunker Hill, climb to top (Regroup)
- Right on Wright back to RT-179, Left and take that to Case (veere right) Climb to top (Regroup at top of climb)

- Left on Firetown, Right on Laurel, Left on Old Farms all the way back to the start. NOTE: This is slightly different return route than normal

- Address: 244 Farms Village Rd, West Simsbury, CT 06092
- Parking: In the REAR lot behind the builds
- Start time: 6:00pm sharp
- Distance: 18-40 miles (varies by month and amount of daylight)
- Ride Leaders: Christian Torrillo, Steve Savino, John Lockwood
PACE: This is a "Club Pace" ride (generally averaging 15-17 mph) - Route varies weekly, exploring areas west, north, and east of Simsbury. Rides generally alternate between hilly & flat. Regroups always occur at key points, certainly at the tops of climbs. This Ride's is considered "Progressive" where each week the speed and climb increase as riders improve and we chase maximum daylight, however; always staying within the advertised club pace and regrouping.
PLEASE NOTE: Starting in 2015, The group may split based on number of riders. Helmets are required, an emergency headlight is recommended as we chase the daylight. Headphones/ear buds are not allowed. Non-members must sign waiver in order to ride, Minors require adult signature.
Weather looking below optimal, not sure we want to do another wet ride so if it doesn't clear up I'll lean toward cancelling; I'll post a decision around 4-5pm.
I'm going to cancel the ride tonight, similar to previous weeks there are little red pockets popping up and it's 50% or more chance... last week was a good ride, and even though we didn't have a drop of rain in the air, it was like we rode in a downpour because I was water logged!
Have a good one, we'll shoot for next week same route.
Good call. 5:50 and its pouring like hell in W.S., with cloud to ground lightning.
I hereby nominate Christian to be the club's new Evil Weather Overlord.
Excellent call indeed. This rain just popped up south of us and blossomed over canton and our proposed route.
That worked out well! I literally had a newly formed river in my back yard it came down so heavy. Glad we didn't get caught in that, roads still have standing pools in them along the planned route.
Hope to see some of you jump on the Wed Res Loop tomorrow - watch the forums, there will probably be a CP contingency.
What's up with the Tuesday weather patterns this year??!!!!
Great call.....I wasn't sure at first when it looked like the cell was moving out the area but they seemed to keep popping up right over Canton/Simsbury all evening.
