Tuesday 4/19 Simsbury B Ride - Rt 20 East Hartland and Case St Descent

This week we are going for one nice gradual climb up route 20 into East Hartland overall it moderate ride. planned for 28 miles with 1975ft of climb and the weather is looking to be Sunny and 60+ degrees which makes for some great cycling weather. Here's the queue sheet:

  • Out Hedgehog Lenora, Left on Old Farms, at all way stop make a Right on to Holcomb, then Left on Barndoor Hills Rd
  • Turns to Bushy Hill Rd when crossing RT-20, stay straight, Left on Kelly Ln, Left on Creamery Hill, short climb, Left on Day St (Regroup 200ft down Day St)
  • Take Day St back to RT 20, make right and begin climb into East Hartland, I put a slight detour on Higley (so we can all stare up next weeks climb of Silkey!)
  • Higley dumps us back on RT-20, make a right and continue climbing RT-20 into East Hartland, stop at the church pull-off (Full Regroup)
  • Take 179 Back, careful for some drainage they have been working on around the shoulder! overall it's safe but be aware of possible loose dirt on the road.
  • At the all way stop sign, Left onto RT-219 and continue for a 1/4 mi, Right on South Road, turns to Edgerton. Take until it ends at Case ST. (Full Regroup)
  • Descend Case St., keep an eye out for a dog that likes to hang out in the street about 2/3rds the way down
  • At the end of Case, Left onto RT-179 (Cherrybrook Rd), a short ways up make Left onto RT-309 and take that back to the start.

This is a "B" ride (generally averaging 15-18 mph) - Route varies weekly, exploring areas west, north, and east of Simsbury. Rides generally alternate between hilly & flat. Regroups always occur at key points, certainly at the tops of climbs. This Ride's is considered "Progressive" where each week the speed and climb increase as riders improve and we chase the sunset for maximum ride time during daylight.

Looks like a great day to ride. I'll see you then !!

Looks like we are light on ride leaders, me and John and Steve ended up having some conflicts pop up. Can some folks planning to join be willing to help with the leading duties?
