Tuesday 3/15 Simsbury B Ride - First Ride of the Season!

For our first ride we'll take it easy and short since sunset is still early and road conditions may still have some debris and sand.

This week's ride is pretty flat to start for a nice warm up, and only has one average climb in the middle. 19.2mi and 1400ft of climb. Weather looks good @ 50 degrees but sunset is coming quick @ 6:59pm.

.

Cue Sheet:

  • Right out the Lot, Right on Hedgehog to Lenora the usual way to Old Farms Rd instersection at Halls Farm Stand (Quick Regroup)
  • Right on Holcomb, Left on Barndoor Hills, continue straight on Bushy Hill, left on Kelly & Climb Creamery Hill (Regroup at top)
  • Left on Day Street after regroup and take that all the way back to Simsbury Rd to Firetown (Regroup after Firetown)
  • Return back the same way we came

Additional Ride Details:

  • Location: Farms Village Plaza (Shops Across from Tulmeadow Farms & Post Office)
  • Address: 244 Farms Village Rd, West Simsbury, CT 06092
  • Parking: In the REAR lot behind the builds
  • Start time: 5:30pm sharp
  • Distance: 18-40 miles (varies by month and amount of daylight)
  • Ride Leaders: Christian Torrillo, Steve Savino, Chris, Patron, John Lockwood

PACE: This is a "B" ride (generally averaging 15-18 mph) - Route varies weekly, exploring areas west, north, and east of Simsbury. Rides generally alternate between hilly & flat. Regroups always occur at key points, certainly at the tops of climbs. This Ride's is considered "Progressive" where each week the speed and climb increase as riders improve and we chase the sunset for maximum ride time during daylight.

Looking forward to riding on Tuesday!

Looks like rain is gone and roads are drying up nicely. Should make for a good ride. It will be a bit cool in low 40's and a fair amount of wind so dress appropriately.

This will be an easy going ride to give us all a sense of where the group is as far as fitness from this mild winter, I expect varying degrees.

Welcome to my world.

Great turnout for the first Tuesday night ride of the season...17+ of us! Given the turnout, we split into two groups. Nice flat route didn't punish us too badly :)
