Looks like a route we did this summer with Coleman, was nice.

Might be available the 9th or 15th. Would have been a nice route to do with some fall foliage but think those Nov. dates will be late for that.

I'm interested. I think any of those dates will work. CX bikes, yes?

In reply to TomWing

Are those paved or unpaved roads???

I am definitely interested. Will go with the majority on the date.

Doctor J...it's road bike-able but...I wouldn't recommend it. Climbing Mt. Riga is tough since it's dirt and steep in parts, then the descent into MA is a b&$@h trying to dodge all the ruts and potholes. If you do use a road bike, you'll get about 1.3 flat tires, based on previous years' experience...

Yes it's too late for fall foilage. Going more for recreating the legendary Eastern Bloc "Donner Pass" ride.

The EBCC "Donner Pass" ride?

'Splain, please.

Based on the need for a cx bike and the "Donner Pass" reference I'll need to rescind my possible availability to ride.

Don't wait too long to do this route. The few times that I have experienced this ride it has also been known as:

The "Nucking Futters" ride

The "I'm so cold I'm going to die" ride

The "Please get your friend Roy out of our public restroom before he burns out the hand dryer" ride.

The "Oh my God, I can believe it's actually colder than the I'm so cold I'm going to die ride".

Pat speaks the truth! It's a great ride that also offers a wide variety of weather. I don't recall laughter through the shivers... plenty of orange-colored purchases to stay warm though!! The little store hit the jackpot when we arrived...

Holy shivering flashback...what year was that?!?! Must've been at least 10 years ago. Where's that picture of Ted and me in the orange hats? Anyone have a copy?

I just tried to search the Flickr group thingy but it doesn't go back far enough. But there are some gems... Ted with a pink thingy on his butt and MISTER DUNN (among others)

Mickey Mouse wants his gloves back.

That would be this time. Before the big decent when we could still feel our feet.

Laura's referring to a year way before that. Might have even been last century. I'll never forget Suzi Hill making a base layer out of a yellow trashbag (one of the many things we bought in the store to get "warm"), then everyone else deciding that was the best idea ever.

No kidding.

I can't believe there's been no comment yet about the orange helmet. I had one back before they were so popular. Ugly now, ugly then.

And who's that hippie on the right? I forget his name.

So that must be the infamous plastic yellow skirt year? I recall seeing a photo on the old shop website.

Okay, let's do this sooner rather than later. I propose Sunday November 9th, and since I can't decide between a 9 or 10 am start, how about 9:30? (Next weekend is the Jerry ride, and Saturday the 8th is out because Eric is working and I have to attend a wedding. Or am I working and Eric has a wedding? Or maybe I'm working at Eric's wedding???)

Route

Anyone know if it's okay to park at the corner of Route 44 (Main Street) and Factory-Washinee? I think that is the town hall parking lot.

Here?

If you do the 9th, the ride will be a lot quieter (but no story time!) because I won't be there.

> Here?

That's where we've always parked. Never had an issue.
