Tour of the Rest of the Litchfield Hills (Southern version)
I promised the R.U.S.H. Grand Master that I would lead a ride sometime this summer out west, and my summer ends this week so I guess I'm running out of time. I propose this route for either this Thursday or Friday, leaving from the Bantam Courthouse lot in Litchfield at 9 AM. I prefer Friday since the weather looks better that day, but I'm not sure if that violates R.U.S.H. laws or not. I can go earlier than 9 too; just figure that's better for those who need to drive to the start. Anyone interested?
As usual, sightings of various celebrities is guaranteed* as is my standard At Least Two Degrees of Kevin Bacon Promise. This route takes in the famous Constitution Hill climb of the old Housatonic Hills RR and I'll be sure to describe in painful detail how I got dropped on the climb every time I did the race. There will be various opportunities for snacks and/or a brief coffee stop and the route can even be easily modified to be a bit shorter or longer if the group desires.
*Actual celebrity sightings not guaranteed in CT, VA, WA and Puerto Rico.
Either day works for me; let's wait to see what others want to do. Maybe Friday will attract some hooky players?
Either day works for me to. As far as celebrity sightings goes - don't count on it. I've been on a bunch of Wayne's 'guaranteed sightings' rides and unless you include the Bantam road maintenance crew there have not been any celebrities seen yet. We did ride by a house that Meryl Streep may or may not have lived in. I have also heard many of Wayne's 'getting dropped' stories. They seem to be pretty wide spread. So be warned, they could go on for the whole ride. Hope we don't go through Warren because the first selectman will do his best to run you over.
Slight preference for Thursday, but can do Friday if that's what the group decides.
We're going with Friday at 9 AM (I have plans on Thursday now). When you get to the start point, make sure to check the signage in the parking lot. Plenty of room but some spots are for the courthouse and some for the PO and if you park in the wrong place you might get fined/towed.
Wayne, what is the route, how many miles? I might make it if I catch up by Thursday afternoon, its that "work thing" !
