Saturday April 30 - Three (3!) ride options in Simsbury
To kick off May Bike Month and the Simsbury Bike Challenge, there are three rides and other events going on this Saturday at the Simsbury Historical Society, 800 Hopmeadow Street.
9:00 am - "B" pace ride of approximately 40 miles (out through East Hartland and Granville, with a stop at the Granville Store) - led by John Lockwood
9:00 am - "C" pace ride of approximately 30 miles, heading down the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail and returning through Collinsville/Canton - led by Chuck Brody
10:00 am - easy pace, very casual rail trail ride for about one hour - led by Chris Petron
All rides will leave from the Historical Society property. Park anywhere in the parking lots on Iron Horse Blvd. and ride to the rear entrance of the Historical Society on Phelps Lane and Railroad Street (right next to Plan B Burger Bar). There will be a tent and table set up on the grounds.
Stick around after the ride for light refreshments. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance if you want to have lunch. Also, at 1:00 pm there will be a workshop on riding with very young children called "Parent and Child Ride As One"
As part of the Simsbury Innovation Fair that is also being held that day, the Historical Society will have an exhibit about "Innovations in Pedal Power" along with other exhibits between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.
Although these are not official club rides, all Eastern Bloc members are invited to join the rides (since all the rides are being led by EBCC members). If you plan to attend, please RSVP to simsburybikechallenge@gmail.com Email Link, or just post here to the forum.

Besides the Innovation Fair, there is also a giant flea market going on Saturday from 9-5 at Simsbury Meadows that includes a food truck festival, only a short walk away. Yes, you read that correctly; a food truck festival.
Check out my sister's food truck on Saturday. Comfort Zone She and her husband were featured on Better Connecticut on Tuesday.
