RFTCC-Wingbiter Friday the 13th

With Friday slated to be 37 degrees and sunny, do you prefer a ride or a hike? I will happy to post a route for either one, although I am unlikely to attend, now that I have found part-time work as a personal trainer.

I haven't been in CT for a while but am coming tomorrow to pick up snow tires from Tire Rack in Windsor. If any one is planning on riding (or hiking but I'd rather ride), I'd love to join you. Please post if anyone is planning a Wingbiter outing. Thanks. Dave Wiederspahn 617-777-9162

I would like to ride, but am concerned about the evening temps and black ice. Can we do a dumpster loop with cross bikes?

In reply to Dr.Bruce

What does everybody think? A dumpster run on cross or mountain bikes from New Hartford center at 6 pm?

My vote is hike since temps will be about 25 and windy at 6pm.

Wet sandy roads with possible black ice? Freezing temps at sunset and dropping about one degree per hour after that. +1 for hike.

I was thinking of hiking the trails in people's forest at the intersection of Greenwood road and east river

+1

Is that agreeable to everyone? To meet at the Greenwoods Road entrance to People's State Forest to hike perhaps the Elliott Bronson Trail?

Sounds good, I prefer the hike, temps are projected for below freezing and we have a lot of condensation and runoff from yesterday still flowing.

PSA: Renew your membership today otherwise you need to sign a hiking waiver and agree to buying first round.

Question: 6:15p like last week?

In reply to CrossBikeRedPants

I'll miss tonights fun. We're going to FL for the long weekend

My membership is current and 6:15 sounds good to me. That extra 15 minutes is helpful.

Those hiking: sounds good to me - I'll meet you at the Greenwoods Rd entrance to the People's Forest at 6:15 unless I hear otherwise.

Christian, I'm assuming the membership renewal/buy first round comment is for my benefit?

I've noticed something interesting. There is a direct positive correlation with smart trainer use (Zwift) and hiking tonight.

I don't know how I'm going to extricate myself from the basement come April.

It's for all's benefit! Just kidding BTW on having to renew. just a gentle nudge/reminder to everyone since most don't think about renewal until spring.

One final thing. When you pay the bill at Chatterly's this week, leave the effing cash on the table where it belongs. For some unknown reason, I'm the one who gets called every time someone absconds with the money.

It was good to see you all Friday! And thanks for all the info on Zwift and Wahoo trainers. I have an old trainer that is making funny noises and I've been meaning to look into a replacement; the Kickr Snap looks like a good choice, the bike store that sponsors my triathlon team sells it for $600 and as a member of the team, I think I get a 15% discount! I can see joining you on a virtual group ride in the not too future - I'll let you know. Happy New Year! -Dave
