RFTCC-Wingbiter Friday August 21, route and meeting place changed! Read down to Doug's 2nd post.

I won't be able to ride this week, but I spoke with your parents. They said you may stay out late and finish the ride in the dark. And you may ride hills. Here is my proposed Route.

Are we being punished for last week's mutiny? Is East Hill fully paved now?

In reply to Doug

No, East Hill is a mess. I would continue up North Mountain to Sexton's Hollow Rd and make a right down to Gracey.

how about 309 to W. Mountain to Notch, up Dry Bridge?

309 is terrible. It is skinny, lots of curves and fast traffic. Just cross over East Hill and go up and down Morgan. We have enough traffic-filled portions on this ride with a long section of 219 then 179 and 44. Sorry, Bruce - I still love you though.

After discussion tonight, the route for the Wingbiter will be a counterclockwise res loop, barring bad weather. This is the original route that the Wingbiter was based on. We will meet at the east end of the dam to avoid riding in darkness at the end of the ride if we start from and had to return to New Hartford center.

it does not get dark at the dam?

All in favor of a clockwise loop... say aye!

either direction. Who will make the call with the weather?

I think darkness happens if we do a clockwise loop. It was the counterclockwise loop combined with starting at the dam that Doug says prevents darkness from occuring. But I'm okay with bringing a light.

I second that vote for clockwise route

If it's gonna rain at the end of the ride then I vote counter clockwise. Otherwise, clockwise is fine. I will also assume the role as official weather watcher and make the call of go/no go by ride time, even though I accept the fact that a ride leader for a Wingbiter has little power and influence over the peloton (rebellious mob).

The good thing about a res loop is that once you start, it's really not possible to rebel on it.

So start is 6PM at the dam? (not sure I can make it but if I can I'm considering being late so I don't have the ride the loop :) )

Chris - Yup, 6pm start at main dam lot

Doug - This week we are giving the Parrot a try right?

In reply to Kring

Weather ok. Ride's on. Parrot afterwards.
