> FIXED would be removing Satans's Elbow
Let's face the issue of changing the route to a res loop. The planned route is indeed aggressive, especially for this time of the year. Although most of us will follow the leader like lemmings (or be pushed by the leader) , I wonder how many persons would be happier with changing tonight's route? Maybe we can accommodate everyone's desires? (no ice cream yet though) I'll be honest and state that I'd prefer a res loop ride. Better aerobic, endurance workout than anaerobic grinds up steep hills with early season legs. I am a lemming though, and will go with the crowd.
I like the res loop idea even though I've ridden it a few times already also. Satans elbow seems a bit too much this early in the year. I don't think doing all those hills is going to benefit anyone's training, it might actually hurt it. Just sayin'..... I'm planning on being there tonight and will follow what the group decides:)
All bow to your satanic leader. Will you be going down Gun Barrel too? (I'd pay to watch that) Please remember to bring candles, cloaks and a small animal (unless you can haul a goat up his elbow)

I would prefer the res loop as well. As Doug states, it's too early in the season and for me, too aggressive as I try and nurse my foot back. I'm not a lemming and will likely pass on the posted route. However, I am a lemming when it comes to joining you for wings and beer. :)
I’m up for either as long as it involves riding my bike. I got a new toy for it last night. The elevation difference between the two rides is about the same. Satan’s elbow is only hard because of the 3 mile climb up Ratlum road.
Bring the pitch forks. Revolt or join in - either way they'll be useful
I am on a training schedule tonight so I would prefer res loop since I need to stay in a specific power/HR range which Satan always destroys. That's my vote. But I would still do the satanic ride just really really slowly.
I just tallied up the forum and it appears there are 4 in favor of Satan's revenge and 9 against. How powerful is satan's pull
It appears this is a res loop tonight. Where is Greg in all this? He has not posted here in 22 hours.
I stand firmly behind Greg and his efforts every week to map out a ride and post it for us. I'll be heading up Ratlum tonight to do the ride as posted by the ride leader. Hijacking/mutiny/revolt is just not cool.
I wouldn't call it "Hijacking/mutiny/revolt". What I would call it in this day and age is trolling as I won't be riding tonight I have other plans. So enjoy climbing Satan's elbow (or as I have learned Devil's Elbow) after your 3 mile climb or that never ending climb of the res. Enjoy the ride and be safe all!!!!!
Who's the Tinkerbell now???
It seems a lot of people would prefer a res loop. Let's hold a vote in the parking lot, beforehand. Both routes afford a good workout.
What the heck happened here? Just because some pasta eater mentioned a res loop we should perform mutiny? I'm riding the bad ass, epic posted route (unless I'm alone and ascared - then I'll follow the group).
Since when did the RFTCC™ WingBiters® start suffering from low-T? Refer to Rule #6. If that doesn't do it for you, refer to Rule #5!
So, in the end, for those people reading this thread who are wondering the outcome of the raging battle of route choice and possible demise of the Wingbiter dynasty, we rode two different routes. Most riders went on a clockwise res loop. A few rode the Ratlum, Satan's elbow, Collinsville route. We had similar length rides and similar total climbing. Even the finishing times were within 10 minutes of each other. We all then joined hands, broke bread, ate wings, drank beer, and sang...
Long live the Wingbiter dynasty!
