RFTCC-Wingbiter Friday 3/4

6 pm from New Hartford center. This is our first official training ride for the Vermont Gran Fondo on June 4. (Middlebury, VT. 105 miles, 4 gaps, 10,000+ feet of climbing, featuring Lincoln Gap with a 24% grade. Epic.)

I'm in Greg as long as it is not snowing.

In reply to Brett

I'm in but suggest we make a game day decision on a ride or a hike event.

In Florida Will attempt to find a hill today, not likely. Will probably do laps around the complex. Very exciting

I agree, Jim--Just plan on being there, and we'll figure out what to do (ride or hike) on "game day."

I'll be there, but favor a hike or mtb ride versus long nighttime descents on state roads with gravel/sandy shoulders at below freezing temps. The weather will improve soon enough to get in our usual hills.

If it's a mountain bike ride you're looking for, may I suggest this one.

In reply to CrossBikeRedPants

That'll do. Lots of options to hijack the ride!

Looks good. I really like your official training ride too but agree it can wait.

Eyewitness Weather breaking news: roads wet but clear. Light dusting of snow on the ground. Plan on the mountain biking tonight. See everybody at 6. Dress warmly.

Local conditions....light snow on back roads and main roads are wet. It's not supposed to get above freezing today. Anticipate wet roads that will be freezing over at the time of our ride. The more we can avoid paved roads the better.

Why don’t we play it on the safe side and hike? We have 12 more wingbiters till the VT gran fondo. Not riding this week won’t kill our training, but falling and getting injured will. Plus there is always the Sunday shop ride to get out and ride which I will be doing.

Roads are improving, but I can easily be talked into a hike tonight given the cold and nice weather coming up next week. I'll even ride this weekend to make up for tonight if we hike. I promise!

I like the hike idea also:) My mountain bike and bike rack are put away. The idea of riding in 20 temps isn't appealing. If you ride have a great ride and I'll see you in a few weeks. Going on vacation tomorrow. If you hike I'll be there:)

NEW PLAN!!! Hike! Meet on East River Road at the intersection with Greenwoods Rd. at 6:15 pm. Sound good?

In reply to CrossBikeRedPants

Good idea. i just drove through Riverton and the the sides of the road in the shade have ice and snow.

In reply to Doug

A night hike, followed by draft beer and onion soup.? Priceless. See ya at 6:15

In reply to TheOtherJim

And no ice hikes tonight.

Sorry, gonna miss the hike. I need to ride tonight so I'll Zwift away. Maybe see you at Chats.
