So far this winter, we've hung around New Hartford: People's Forest, Jones Mountain. Would you like to stay in that area this week, or try something new, say, Cowles Park in Granby or Penwood State Park (accessed from the north at the end of Wintonbury Road)? Penwood is particularly nice; John Lockwood took us snowshoeing there many times.

If you want to do Penwood, here's a loop I did a little over a week ago from the top of Wintonbury Road. The road is plowed but with high snow banks, so I would suggest parking only on one side of the road. Don't park in the main lot on Rt. 185; you'll get ticketed.

If you want to add more distance, you can continue south on the yellow trail for a bit and turn around at the Cedar Ridge Overlook. There's a path there to take you to the service road for an easier return.

Penwood

Alongside your snowshoe with Strava, John, I'm going to place this map of Penwood State Park: Penwood

Greg, looks good, but I am concerned about the parking.

hey Wingbiters don't for get to order your new eastern Bloc kit Christian Brent and the whole design team put a lot of hard work to come out with a great design.

Doug this means you get rid of those see-through shorts. and yes Christian order a new pair of shorts!!

The deadline for ordering our newly designed EBCC club clothing is fast approaching. There is less than one week left to place your order! The EBCC/Voler Store will close at midnight 3/2. So please accept this gentle reminder that all orders need to be placed before the deadline! We are not presently planning any additional orders! Don’t let this opportunity slip away!

Done!

I spoke to John about the parking last evening at the ride leaders' meeting. He suggests we go up Wintonbury to the dead end, turn around, and park facing downhill on one side of the street, so we can easily leave afterward. See everyone at 6:15!

Looks like a nice for a hike.

I'm in. But the big question is, where will we drink after ?

And, for the record (Cristian) I already ordered my EBCC kit.

Take your pick: McLadden's, Plan B, Maple Tree Cafe, Red Stone Pub...

To get to Wintonbury Road, follow Route 10/202 north into Simsbury. After the big white church (on the left), take a right onto Drake Hill Road. Follow that to the end, and take a left onto Riverside Drive, which will become Terry's Plain Road. Take your 4th right off Terry's Plain Rd. onto Wintonbury Road. Park at the end, facing downhill.

I'm out but I did order my kit
