no loop through Riverton?
Roads should be good, Ski Sundown lit up, houses with Christmas lights on display...
But Satan's Elbow? Something's wrong with that. Let's rename it to "Shepard's (sp)" Shepherd's Crook...
...or even better, " Shepherd's Crook". As a SADR (smart a$$ daytime rider), I should probably stay out of this...
I'm going to preempt Roy and offer this modification to the route. It minimizes our riding on Routes 219, 179, and 44, reducing our exposure to motorists (day dreaming last minute shoppers, drunken drivers, and young skiers/snowboarders en route from/to Sundown). We still get 17 miles of riding and over 1700' feet of climb. Road conditions should be dry. No need for the "winter bike" tonight!

I still would vote for the loop through Riverton
To appease Dr. Bruce, how about after climbing Goose Green we take Fuller Rd (dirt!) to East River, return via West River and then resume Doug's modified ride (can't see the original ride as MMR is a PO$), then perhaps dropping down on 219 to the lower Ratlum Rd entrance (....or not) before climbing the "Crook"? (Hate to miss the nice ride down lower 219....)
The idea was to avoid lower 219 and Ratlum as much as possible for safety. I'll go along with adding a Riverton loop for Bruce then heading up and over the dam to upper Ratlum, etc.
Avoid Ratlum as much as possible for safety??? When trying to justify avoiding Ratlum, safety has never been among my top ten bogus excuses!
