Cross or mountain bikes. 6 pm from New Hartford center. Hmmm...does anyone know if there are any roads here we won't be able to ride on? Route

If you make it by the MDC no trespass signs, guard towers and road mines the surveillance drones will soon spot you and if they don't blow you up with missals the patrol storm troopers will haul you off to the water board torture chamber beneath the dam and you will likely never be seen again. But what the heck, you should try it anyway. What's a good ride with some risk?

as long as it is not raining, we are good with all of that

I/We can ride on any roads. The route along the res shore however is taboo. Even in the pre 911 era it was closed and carefully patrolled. Nowadays it is totally verboten. It is a lucrative source of income for the MDC. There's a reason we haven't ridden there all these years...

You could think of it as a personal way to help the MDC pay Maribeth Blonski's settlement. I doubt it will be tax deductible though.

I'm out tonight. Picking my son up from college and won't be back in time. Have a great ride wherever you go.

So whats the route ??? Lets do road ride, remember what happened the last time there was a mt bike ride at night !!

Bring your mountain or cross bikes, because (1) I really want to ride up Greenwoods Road and (2) my road bike is in the shop. When we get to the top of Greenwoods Road, we'll take a poll and see what people want to do.

I've got a route for tonight. It can include Greenwoods road. Follow me..... Not road bike friendly.

Will need a GPS and trail maps. Satellite phone a good idea too. And survival gear including space blankets and ham radios.

I have a fifth of whiskey and a bone saw.

Great ride! thanks to Doug and Chris for help navigating. I think we should consider these rides often during the winter, as it was very comfortable even though the temps dropped. Lack of wind in the woods and the slower pace for the bikes was a good thing.

And that stretch along Lake McDonough was beautiful in the moonlight!

My son told me that rope near the river is fun to swing out on and time your release so that you hit the water instead of the shoreline. Not everyone gets it right.
