Odd amount of snow on the ground. We just got a several inch dump this morning but it will pack down on the trail. Snowshoes may be overkill. I'm bringing yaktraks and throwing snowshoes in the car just in case. Might be doing less of hike than planned due to Maria's tendonitis, etc. in her foot.

Can I bring my 4 legged friends?

Can someone explain exactly where we are meeting? I don't know that area

Thanks

I'm not going to make it. It's Laurie's bday tomorrow so I'll be taking her out tonight. I promoted a hike and dinner (celery sticks, waffle fries, beer and cinnamon whiskey) but she wants to meet up with some old friends. So be careful, stay warm and make sure you tie Cheryl's boots should they come untied. Stay away from descending down cliffs into trees onto ice - like last winter's hike. I think we lost some members on that hike.

I don't make the rules but others have brought dogs before.

Probably won't be able to make it. As I recall, Elliott Bronson ain't no fun--strictly uphill & down, but should give you all a good workout. (For the record, there are other more pleasant and somewhat less strenuous hiking trails starting at the same point.)

Don't feed the bears any parts of your anatomies that you can't live without. Perhaps it would help if you were to sacrifice Brett to appease the ursine gods? Maybe fire-roasted and served with a Bearnaise sauce? (And don't believe that "they're hibernating" nonsense!)

I may come out of hibernation and join in. I haven't been winter hiking before so we'll see if this will be a mistake.

Cheryl, In case you still need the location info, the Greenwods Road meeting spot is on East River Road, about a half mile up from the Pleasant Valley bridge. I'm sure you have passed it many times. And... It's the first and only right hand turn on that East River Road. It may not be plowed, so we may be meeting at the right on East River Road, where Greenwoods Road meets it. But if it is plowed, drive up about a half mile on Greenwoods Road and look for cars parked on the left side, in a small parking lot

Thanks Jim. I'm going to pass tonight. Coming down with a cold and I'm Not feeling the best. Have a good time.
