RFTCC-Wingbiter BIKE RIDE Friday the thirteenth at 6:15 pm
I'm allowing a little more time for everyone to get to the parking lot on the east side of the Saville Dam on route 318. Counterclockwise Res. loop. We'll begin in daylight but finish in the dark (around 7:45), so bring a headlight and a rear blinky. Oh, and dress warmly.

Watch the temps. Current forecasts predict around freezing after sunset, and the roads have been very wet from all the melting.
What's our own meterologist think about refreezing occurring there were 3 or 4 spots this morning of ice along the first part of 219 up to the intersection of 179
Road bike.
I was hoping we'd ride a bike (and that it would be a shorter ride and warmer tomorrow). As the sun sets temps will drop quickly and be below freezing. Slow and careful should do it. That shouldn't be hard this at this time of the year.
Older Bianchi road bike
Not sure if I can make it tonight - flying back from out west where I was doing some sunny MTB riding... If I get back in time i'll try to make it... I have a 1 min quick video of me riding if anyone is interested.. it was blast out there, highly recommend going if you can.
Careful on the route 20 downhill out of E Hartland. There is some rough pavement towards the bottom of the hill. A new lake across the road at the base of the hill had also formed. Don't attempt a crossing if there is a pickup truck anywhere in sight (from experience and yes I could hear them laughing). First part of 181 has some holes and rough spots. The newly paved downhill part was wet but smooth. Don't forget your fenders (also from experience).

Should we consider like a dumpster ride, considering what Sam has reported?

At first I didn't think that was you. Then when you pansied out of the dismount off the rock at the end I knew it was you. Hope you make it back in time.
Like Bruce and the rest of you, I want to ride, but am not interested in hitting the pavement...especially not at speed while descending an ice fall in traffic on Route 20. Plus I'm fat...and old...(some would add "and ugly too")....but mostly just fat. Given that I haven't been on my bike in 3 months and have gained close to 10 lbs. in that time (grammarians please note the parallel structure!), I think the Res loop might be a wee bit ambitious for me. I think an SP ride out Sandy Brook would be a better first-ride-of-the-year option. Just sayin'.
Tell you what. We'll meet at the Saville Dam at 6:15. I don't want to change the starting place or time this late in the day. When everyone arrives, we'll have a discussion and take a vote on the route. I think a res loop will be fine as long as we descend carefully and slowly. (And I'm counting on Roy arriving too late to vote.)
