Monday C ride

The days are getting a bit shorter, so we should adjust the rides to be done by around 8-8:15.
Weather looking good, warm.

Sunset is at 8:02, so we definitely need to shorten up the rides and allow buffer time for flat repairs, etc. I expect there will be some sore legs today from the weekend's events. Great efforts put forth in the Tour of Litchfield Hills especially.

And you'll lose 10-11 minutes per week during August

Just a quick reminder that I'll be leading a SLOW (11-13avg mph) "C" ride tonight (MON) from the same spot the other "C" ride is meeting, and on WED evening from W. Simsbury Mtn Park @ 6:00 for newer "C' riders. Both these rides are for riders wishing a more moderate pace than the "C" riders who have been riding all summer and moving into the "B" league.

No! No! No! You need lights! Lots of lights! Lots of lumens!

All the Monday rides that I have been on this year and years in the past are "C" level rides. None of the rides this year have been a "B" ride. As someone who has been doing "B" rides with he club for 5 years now there is more than just average speed that makes a rider a "B" rider. The "B" rides will have multiple climbs over a mile in length. None of the Monday rides have had a climb near a mile in length most are a .25 mile at length or less. Riders are alerted of the climb and there is always a regrouping at the top of the hill or near the top in a safe area to regroup. We live in the northwest corner of the state you can’t avoid hills there everywhere. In addition Bruce and Doug have done an excellent job at making sure all of the riders are at a comforting pace. The rides tend to ride at the pace of the slowest rider. I can say my mother you has done these rides for the last couple of years has had no issue with the pace. On days where she is having a hard time Doug/skip has ridden off the back of the group with her until she has rejoined the group. Also the ride leaders will check on riders new to the group or are showing signs of struggling several times during the ride to make sure they are happy with the ride.

There's no doubt in my mind that the Monday night ride leaders are the best in the business and are a credit to the club. I am not able to attend alot of these rides but the times that I have I've seen lots of good energy and happy faces. The Monday crew is a big bunch and we are fortunate to have an ample number of leaders which allows for breaking into different groups. Some may be a little faster than others and that's OK as long as no one is left behind. Breaking into groups and announcing the intention of each group (as I have witnessed the ride leaders do) allows each person to choose the group that they will feel most comfortable with. This is a good thing. Let's enjoy ourselves out there and not misread or feel "B-leaguered" by forum comments. It's all good folks!
