So glad you are ok. I am more sorry to hold people up! challenging ride!

The ground is a hard place and bodies are just soft sacks of liquid and bones. When they meet abruptly its not a good thing. Sorry to hear about your crash. Can't say I am sorry to have missed it - sounds grim. I imagine you got back on your bike and finished the ride, not sure but knowing you, you probably did. Lew did the same thing when he crashed and you were both diagnosed with concussions afterward. I am not a doctor but I suspect it was not a great idea to keep riding with a concussion and could lead to further complications. So a heads up (sorry) for anyone that crashes or is with someone that crashes - be cautious, adrenaline is a good thing if we need to wrestle a bear but not so good if we bang our head and would be better off siting still. Rest up and get better soon.

I have to agree with Sam...he was there when I crashed and I insisted I could finish the ride...even though my helmet was cracked in 6 places and I didn't know where I was...but did not tell Sam that for another 6 miles. It got me a month long "vacation" from riding. Concussion was what concerned the doctor the most....cracked/broken ribs were what hurt the most....don't breathe deeply or laugh. Eric...take care of yourself and take it easy...

Eric, First off I am glad that you are OK. I didn't witness the crash but the scene after was pretty scary. Second, with what we are now learning about concussions the term "minor concussion" is no longer accurate giving the risk and the dangerous after effects of a secondary event. Please take your recovery seriously and get some down time (both physical and mental). The bike will still be there when you are fully recovered.

Besides, as a adult how often do you get told to go take a nap?

Again, I am glad your injuries are not more severe.

Pat

X-rays and cat scan of my head came back clear but I still won't get back on anytime soon. Lou ,even with just bruised ribs I can't breathe in deep. Can't imagine how you felt . I'm lucky and I know it. Not going to push it. Eric

Glad your X-rays and Cat scan came back clear. The ribs will hurt for a while...bruised, cracked or broken...I think they all hurt the same. Takes a couple of weeks or so. Hang in there.
