Escape to New York, Saturday, 8/29

I promised The Ruler of the Free World (no Patrick, I don't mean you) I would organize a ride "out west" sometime this summer and...holy crap...summer is almost over. So I'm proposing this route for Saturday the 29th, leaving Bantam at 8 AM*. We will stop for coffee in Kent at about mile 38. Weather looks good right now but rain would cancel (but we could go with Sunday for a rain makeup date).

Pace will be...uh...I don't remember the right code. Not hammering but not slow. Let's just say ride speed will be 15-16 mph average. This is all pavement; no dirt but chip seal is always possible based on the whims of the DOT.

Litchfield Hills with as few hills as possible

*Time negotiable. Could go as late as 9 but the later we go, the more Manhattanites there will be taking up all the good sidewalk tables at the coffee stop in Kent.

I am only a figure head of a puppet regime. I think we all know who is pulling the strings (follow the money).

No can do Saturday, I'll hold out hope for the rain date.

I am definitely in. Unless something better comes along.

9:00 sounds challenging but I think I can make it.

Geez, even an old man might be able to tackle that route!

I'd prefer a 9:00 am start (unless the majority decides otherwise), since it will probably take at least 30 minutes of haggling to get through the Litchfield County border crossing.

9:00 is fine with me. I can stay in bed until 8:52 that way.

Just tell the border guards you are headed for BOSGOPOMB Day at Arethusa Farms and you'll be fine. They'll wave you right through.

You are helping out at Sam's tag sale?

Forest Park cx season kickoff. Better a tag sale than a yard sale.

Free coffee and pastry of your choice to the first person who figures out that acronym. I'll give you a hint: "Buy one..."

The Ruler of the Free World has cancelled the tag sale so I will be relieved of my capitalist duties and will be able to make the ride.

I assume the meeting time is 9:00 (John needs all the beauty sleep he can get) and at the usual Bantam location near , off street , behind , next to , GPS coordinates , Mapquest directions , Google Earth satellite and street view , turn by turn que sheet from each of our houses _____ .

How did she manage to take Lockwood out?

I can't give you all that information but I do know that this parking place is reserved for VW busses only: 41.726331, -73.236754

For everyone else, the start point is the parking lot next to the Bantam Courthouse/Post Office, 80 Doyle Road, Bantam, CT 06750. Wheels roll at 8:59 AM.

Looks good. I think I will break my mo of never drive to a ride and join.

Holy crap, they're cloning Red Mikes.

In reply to DinoSore

Interesting that he got two flats too. The first mike got the first flat and the second mike got the second flat???

........we'll have to keep an eye out for further cloning clues.

Wayne, thanks for leading that ride. Good group. Good pace. Good 5 pound brownie. Great ride!!!
