Benny Bunny and Gnome awards
This year we will carry on the tradition of awarding both the Benny Bunny and Gnome awards at our annual Fall Picnic.
The Benny Bunny award is given to the club member who has shown the most improved performance during the last year. This is not (necessarily) related to competitive performance but rather a recognition of the rider whose overall riding has improved the most during the season.
The Gnome award recognizes (?) an individual who has overcome some adversity during the current season. For example, a rider who broke his/her chain far from home in an area with no cell reception and had to walk 10 miles to the nearest house to beg to call his/her spouse. Or who had to outrun a pack of coyotes while going uphill on the Res Loop. Or who double flatted but had only one spare tube. Etc., etc., etc.. Both are meant to be light-hearted recognition of some of the events of the current year.
All Active EBCC Club members are eligible to vote.
Please email me (brettmurno@gmail.com) with your votes by Fri October 2nd. and then come to the picnic to "honor" the lucky (?) recipients.!!! Note: The 2014 Benny Bunny was Christian Torrillo and the Gnome was Mike Parker
Regards, Brett
The winner of the Benny bunny award this year is Kris Turon.
And the gnome award goes to Walter Hard for their experience with air Canada flights to Europe this summer.
What a surprise.
I proudly accept the prestigious "Gnome Award" on behalf of "Team Air Canada" riding out of Bradley Airport, no Boston- Logan Airport, no Montreal, no Toronto, no Halifax.
Team "Air Canada" : Eric Landi, Christian Torrillo, Betsy Hard, and Jim Rogowski (Who unfortunately was forced to "abandon" during Stage 2 in Boston).
We also congratulate our competitors, "Team United" riding out of Newark, N.J. , Sam Slater and Mike Parker. They beat us fair and square, as they won the race to France and back by well over 2 days.
We'll take good care of the Gnome. It will be used as a paper weight to hold our "requests for reimbursements".
Go "Team Air Canada".
Hey!!!! Thanks!!! Just found out about this on a morning ride today. Thanks Roy for letting me know. I wish I could have been at the picnic to accept it:). I'm not really sure I deserve it, but it's been a great season!!! Looking forward to more fall rides. I'm hoping the weather stays nice and that we have an early Spring!!! Thanks again!!! Kris
