7/11/17 Tuesday B Ride, 36 miles, 2300 ft climbing, Lost Acres
Let's head to Lost Acres Orchard. A great ride to one of the best staircase step climbs around. We will be heading through the regular roads taking us to Day ST., 189 north and left onto Lost Acres Rd. We'll head north and head into Granville on Water St and start our return on Silver St., then left onto189 and left onto East St., right onto Wells Rd. to 189, Creamery Hill, Bushy Hill and Barndoor Hills. We'll stay on Barndoor Hills to Laurel Lane, right onto Great Pond and back the final stretch on Old Farms Rd.
Let's hope the rain and/or storms stay clear of the area. Check in for any ride updates by 4:30 in case of any weather related decisions. 7/11/17 Tuesday Ride 36 miles, 2300 feet of climbing,
I couldn't get there in time so tried to intercept doing the loop backwards. When that didn't seem to be working I turned around and followed the last roads as listed. On east street some poor guy who apparently often walks his cow along that road got hit by a car. The cow was fine but it didn't look good for the walker. I hope he is ok.
Just heard he died.
That's just awful. You take your life in you hands walking anywhere these days. The only way people are going slow down and pay attention is if the penalties for irresponsible driving become more severe. How many more people have to be mowed down before this happens?
group ride rode by just after 7:30 so shortly after accident - sun was real low and had to be in drivers eyes but all the more reason to be aware... we realized it wasn't car/bike, right front end of a car had damage, terrible it was fatal.
It’s tragic no matter who you are or what you are doing but could have just as easily been a cyclist. A safety take away for me is the sun is absolutely blinding late in the day when traveling east to west on East street in this particular area where there is no shoulder at all.
