5/9/17 Tuesday B Ride, 6PM

It's a new route! Some have spoken about venturing to the roads of Burlington and New Hartford. This is a great route with some climbing, but not intense. The climbing happens initially when we head up Shingle Mill Lane (next to Flamig Farm), and continue up Woodchuck to North Mountain Road. We will eventually make a left onto East Hill Road to descend down to Rt. 44. We will cross Rt. 44, pass Mills Pond Recreation Center, and make a right onto Maple Ave. to take us into Collinsville. Once across the bridge after CCK, go straight up the 'kicker' hill, and make a left onto Claire. This is an important area to have someone knowing the roads. In summary, we will make a R onto Barnes Hill, R onto Deerfield Trace, R onto Vineyard, R onto Clear Brook which turns into Hotchkiss (gorgeous area), R onto Covey which turns into Southeast Rd. That area is a gentle climbing area. The descent to Rt 202 is very fun and good pavement. Make a R onto Rt. 202 to take back towards Canton. The map shows going down 202 and making a left to go onto 179. I don't like being at the intersections of 202 and 179, so I recommend coming across the damn, which is a R before the descent on 202. Once across the damn, make a left and come down Town Bridge Road...and then L onto 179. Continue through all intersections, staying on 179, climbing up to Rt 309. Make the R onto 309 and head back to our starting point. This is a nice ride and will open the doors for more adventures onto the roads of Burlington, Harwinton and New Hartford as daylight hours increase. 5/9/17 Tuesday EBCC Ride 25 miles or copy and paste into your browser: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/20996154 See you tonight, Jan

And not go up Hunter's Crossing? (Sacrilege!)

Walt, You're just the person I'm looking to have join us on this ride! You know these roads. Bring Betsy and come on out. It has been a better attempt at a B Ride than last year. There is regrouping following the climbs or major turning areas. Hope to see you and Betsy later!

Nice route and nice to ride some different roads.

My guess is this will be 2hrs door to door for some of the group. If daylight constrained (pretty dark and gloomy out) some might want to consider picking up the bike path in Unionville, then Lawton, Dry Bridge, West Mountain.
