5/2/17 EBCC Tuesday B Ride
It's not supposed to rain this afternoon! Glad to have a Tuesday that I don't have to labor over the 'ride or no ride' decision.
I think the link will work that is below... 5/2/17
Otherwise, copy and paste the following into your browser. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/20793940
We will use every minute of daylight on a great ride heading north just over the MA state line. We'll head out through Hedgehog, etc onto Old Farms, left onto Firetown taking us to Simsbury Rd. Day Street will take us to 189 north and heading onto Silver Street, which will gradually climb for a couple miles before descending onto Rt. 189 just south of Granville, MA. Rt 189 will be a nice 'descending' road to bring us back to Stratton St. This is a right near North Church which will 'dog leg' us onto Bushy Hill and Barndoor Hills...eventually coming back on Holcomb and Old Farms Rd. The ride is roughly 30 miles with roughly 1700 feet of climbing...which is more rolling than a climbing type of ride.
See you later and have a great day! Jan
6pm start instead of 5:30pm correct? Just checking will be tight at 30 miles.
Jan, Not sure if you are aware the ride calendar shows the rides starting at 6:00 once we enter the month of May.
Calendar says 6:00. Sunset at 7:52. No wiggle room at all, so the slower paced group(s) will need to shorten it up a bit.
Finally checking on the forum...I forgot about the 6pm start time change. I will come up with a modification as that may be prudent. I'll check in at the beginning of the ride with you all.
See you soon!
Thanks to everyone drawing my attention to the 6pm start time change. Following is another option that shortens the ride to about 25 miles. The ride will still go the previously planned way but will make a left onto Doherty Rd. about 1.2 miles up Silver Street and cut over to Rt. 189 where you will make a left and head back via Rt. 189 south, Stratton Rd to Bushy Hill, Barndoor Hills, Holcomb, Old Farms and to the starting point.
I believe Doherty is one way...and I believe it is one way in our direction. Please make the decision for this route with your group and to be aware as you come across Doherty.
25 mile Plan B for 5/2/17, going across Doherty off of Silver Street
Someone left insulated water bottle in lot. It is now on edge of lot in grass
Also right after corner after Tulmeadow I noticed helmet on grass. Still there this am. - Rudy Project. Maybe fell off car roof after ride? It is just after you turn after farm. 20 feet from corner on grass.
