4/11/17 Tuesday Night EBCC Ride

Some people are lucky enough to take advantage of this gorgeous day! For those of us riding at 5:30PM, we will still capture part of this spectacular day. Binky lights are always good. If some of the morning riders want a double session, come ride this afternoon too.

Today's ride will head out the usual way, onto Hedgehog and eventually to Old Farms Road. We will ride out to Rt 20 via Firetown and SImsbury Rds. We take the gradual climb into East Hartland, head south on 179. We will come back via, Hayes back to Rt. 20, Simsbury Rd., Barndoor Hills to Holcomb and finish on Old Farms...a 26.7 mile loop. Jim is out of town, so maybe another person will help to lead a second group.

I don't anticipate any weather related changes, so I will see you there. Thanks, Jan

Looks like a great route! I'll be there tonight and can lead the second group.

I'm planning to be there!

Hi to all that made the ride on the 11th, or for future riders too. I wanted to follow up based upon some feedback earlier today.

It was great to have some new riders, young riders, riders of the original EBCC days and the standard Tuesday riders. I wanted to let you all know that everyone regrouped throughout the ride at several locations, and at the end. Everyone made it home safely, after a great spring night of riding. I hope to see you all there next Tuesday!

The Tuesday ride has been identified as a B Group ride, one that will always emphasize regrouping. At the spring meeting we had mentioned trying to help interested riders develop the confidence to join the Wednesday A and B Group rides. Tuesday will continue to be a B group ride, with the established average pace of 16-17mph and will consider developing an option of an 'A Type' ride as the season progresses and the ride participation warrants. The pre-ride roll out will identify the route, ride leaders, potential regroup areas, and to identify if the groups need to be separated based upon strengths of riders. History proves that we either want to ride with our friends, or don't want to 'classify' our abilities, but it will be helpful if we can roll out in an effort desired/strength based group. Regardless, each group will regroup and we will always make sure everyone is safely back. Separation happens naturally going up a hill, and reasonable regrouping is to be expected.

The goal of EBCC and Benidorm Bikes is to provide a ride calendar that will help with the development of riders, and the safe, responsible etiquette of riding in a group...and essentially, the love of riding a bike. Communication is always important within the group as well as making sure we are looking out for each other.

I plan to be at most of these rides and will gladly help develop your comfort and confidence in riding in a group. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks, Jan
