In January of 2014, seven year old Benjamin Buckley passed away as a result of a severe asthma attack.
Please join the 4th Annual Ride and Walk For Ben, an event in his memory. All proceeds go to Ben Was Here Inc., a non-profit charitable organization to help fund asthma research, medications, scholarships, and Arts & Technology in local schools. All events will kickoff at 2pm!
The two finely-curated routes pass through scenic, rolling terrain - perfect for a "hookey ride" on a Friday afternoon in October. You'll want to come back and ride this area again!
Routes
The Ride for Ben's classic 15-mile "Tyler Mill" route passes through the beautiful, rolling, Tyler Mill area in eastern Wallingford. Farms, woods, water, rolling hills. (780 feet of climbing)
Back again this year is the 30-mile "Lyman Route", which adds an extension into picturesque portions of Middlefield and Durham. Farms, orchards, reservoirs, historic homes. Perfect for those wanting "a little more" distance and difficulty. (1,635 ft of climbing)
(See our interactive map of the routes, and here for a great review.)
Notes
Helmets and good riding etiquette are required. This is a semi-supported ride (group leaders, marked courses, and a sweep, but no maintenance or traffic control).
The day also features a walking option, in the rear parking lot of the Campus at Greenhill. See registration page for details.
Complimentary pre-ride bike checks provided by True Cyclery (first-come, first-serve).
Complimentary instructor-led yoga stretching.
Complimentary post ride/walk refreshments provided by Burns & McDonnell.
