Kingdom Games, Pond Hockey for women

phw1948@gmail.com Thought I'd pass this on. The club should have more than a few gals who might like to participate in this. It's a great area for all kinds of events and Phil runs a good show.

Pond Hockey - Where it all began LAKE MEMPHREMAGOG, NEWPORT, VERMONT – On line registration is well underway for the First Annual Memphremagog Women’s Pond Hockey Tournament on February 10-11, 2018. Ten teams have already committed to join us from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Canada, with room for 20 more six-person teams this first year.

The Tournament is organized by Kingdom Games and four volunteer Commissioners: Abbe Cart of New Hampshire, Jill Mathers and Liz Hughes of Vermont, and Simona Sund of Canada.

It is hosted by The EastSide Restaurant & Pub and Newport City Inn & Suites and is sponsored by The NEK Tasting Center, Eden Ice Cider, Newport Ciderhouse, Pick & Shovel, Community National Bank, and Jay Peak.

Kingdom Games has been organizing Pond Hockey and Speed Skating Tournaments on Lake Memphremagog since 2014. This year we decided to go with an all-women pond hockey format with the help and encouragement of our four volunteer commissioners, each of whom has a deep connection with Kingdom Games.

Abbe Cart and the Tuck Captains Emeritus

Abbe Cart has been running the Dandelion Run with her buddies from Dartmouth for years. Simona Sund of Toronto participated in The Great Skate, the 25 mile length of Lake Memphremagog in 2014. Jill Mathers is a regular swimmer and biker at Kingdom Games and helped establish Fly to Pie a 26.2 mile marathon run and bike through "the gut" of the Northeast Kingdom at the height of Fall Foliage. Liz Hughes has been a boat pilot and crew for Kingdom Swim for many years. What they have in common – a love of hockey, a love of adventure, and a love of fun.

We’re excited to see the early enthusiasm and are looking forward to a fun weekend of pond hockey this coming February.
