Eastern Bloc Cycling Club Tour of the Litchfield Hills Rest stop
Folks, the club is once again hosting the most popular rest stop of the most popular charity ride in the state. We asking looking for volunteers to support the morning and afternoon shifts. We will have a tent there but you may want to bring a folding chair.
We run two shifts, roughly 9-12 and 12-3 and usually need about 3-4 volunteers per shift. Volunteers attend to the snack table and keep the water bottles full for the participants. The Canaan stop is on the route for the 50, 75 and 100 mile routes and tends to be pretty popular.
After the event we greatly appreciate help at the park with the breakdown and packing up. Our club has been the key contributors to this effort which begins around 4PM. Again, please post here if you are able to help.
Please respond here if you can help out and I will update the list below.
Thanks,
Pat

Pat, I'll do the 9-12 slot. Don
Forgot this. Can we get an extra two pumps for the water bottles.? We only had one last year.
Peg Byram (one of my weekend riders-non member) has volunteered for the 9-12 slot with me. Don
I will help with post ride cleanup .
Thanks Bonnie and Eric! First shift is all set. Anyone available for the 12-3 shift?
We will have a table and a tent at the charcoal furnace on Lower Road. I think we should keep the table up next to the road this year. I think having it down next to the furnace last year discouraged some riders from making the trip down.
Nooners needed!
We could a few volunteers for the afternoon shift of the Canaan rest stop. Anyone have a HS student in the National Honor Society? We can provide a letter of community service for helping out there and at the park.
Pat
I will be there for the noon shift and can break down the site. Let me know procedure. I expect I have to return stuff to the evenbt headquarters in Torrington?
Thanks,
Ron
Breakdown consists of folding up the table and tents. No need to transport anything back. We load up one of the SAG vans to take care of that.
Thanks Ron!
Pat, I can help with clean up again this year
Pat,
If you need me to assist, I can head down to the event headquarters to assist with cleanup after we shut down the site.
Ron
One last plea for afternoon help with the EBCC Canaan rest stop. If you want to experience the extra loop through Sharon of the 100 mile route but would prefer to limit your ride to 75-80 miles you can always ride to the rest area and we can arrange a ride back to the park in one of the SAG vans.
Also, this is a great opportunity for anyone looking for public service hours. We can provide a letter for the hours donated to this good cause.
Pat
Arghhhhh! My friend Peg bailed out of helping at the morning rest stop. If anyone else could help out I'd greatly appreciate it. I can't believe a club as large as ours can't find six members to man a rest stop. I see what other clubs do, We're useless!!!!
