East Lyme Bike and BBQ

Come join us September 29th for the 3rd annual East Lyme Bike and BBQ. In only our third year we are listed as the 8th best event in Connecticut! We will be #1 after this year!

Six new cycling routes with 2- Century rides, 2- Metric Century rides, a 40 miler and a 25 miler. For your $65 entry fee you will receive a beautiful jersey, custom DeFeet socks a quality water bottle and many more items in our “Goodie Bag” worth more than the entry fee.

This year we will give 30 underprivileged kids a new bicycle and helmet. The kids think they are attending a picnic then after they eat we roll out the new bicycles! How cool is that!

We “give out” every penny we take in and then some! Help us by attending this great event.

Fantastic rest stops staffed by cyclist with “quality” food and drink at each. After the ride enjoy a mouthwatering BBQ and live music.

This looks like fun, anyone interested?

This should be good. I've been looking for an event I haven't done yet or in the past few years, and this fills the bill. I signed up for the mild, metric century. I hope a few other EBCC members do the same. It's a great area to ride in.

If anyone is interested, I do have accommodations in Niantic. Tim may attest that they are rather nice. I plan to ride.

Hey Everyone,

Glad to hear some of you will be attending the event. We will not let you down and that is a promise. It’s a really great event as you will see. Pre-Reg really helps us get the quantities right so please do that and you will be sure we have the jersey for you in the correct size. The custom DeFeet socks we will hand out are nice looking with the BBQ logo and flames. Should you not attend the event for ANY reason and you pre-registered you will still get your goodie bag. It has more than $65 worth of stuff in it. NO OTHER event does that.

You can download the GPS track of the route on the RideGPS website. The roads are marked-out by cyclist so we know what you need. They will be easy to follow without GPS or a turn sheet. We will have both turn sheets and GPS tracks.

No jar of peanut butter with a plastic knife stuck in it and a loaf of Wonder bread at our stops. We got the good stuff. Nice sandwiches made on Panera Bread, tasty snacks and plenty of drinks to choose from. The rest stops are staffed with our cycling team and we have fun with all the riders.

You will be hunted down by our paparazzi crew of 6 photographers and videographers while you ride. They will make you more famous than a rock star on the town website.

Oh, we will have a bunch of good stuff being raffled off too. Bike gear, Tune -ups at local shops, helmets you name it we got it. $10 get you 10 tickets or 3 for$5. Every single penny we take in is given away to good causes and the attending event riders. No Fluff! No Foolin’ around.

Nothing helps us more than attendance. Big attendance numbers helps us get the freebies and monies we need to fund all the good causes we contribute to and fill those goodie bags. So, get your buddies and saddle up the iron ponies and we will see you at the BBQ.

If anyone has any questions at all just contact me and I will get you an answer ASAP.

Ken

Ken, You mention jerseys as part of your goody bag. How do you know which sizes to get. I didn't see any mention of jerseys in the Bike Reg site when I signed up. Just curious. I'm in, jersey or no jersey. D

Don gosh something has been change on the reg form. I do not see it either. I contacted the webmaster and I will find out what is up. NO MATTER WHAT a pre reg is guaranteed all the correct sizes jersey and socks at the event and if you can't make it. You will get all the goodies.

Socks we will ask you shoe size and give you the right size.

We are hoping to have an event timer set up.

Ok the webmaster has the shirt size option available for those that pre-reg. As requested by the EB Cyclist. REMEMBER pre-reg people are “guaranteed” a Jersey and our great DeFeet socks and a full goodie bag no matter what.

Read the pre-reg guarantee on the site if you do not show up or ANY reason you still get the killer goodie bag with your jersey, Defeet socks, magazine. Dinner coupons, car wash coupons, gym coupons quality taste free water bottle and lots of other valuable items. WELL OVER the cost of registration.

We have a limited amount of jerseys and socks and registration through our various sign up locations is very strong.

This will be a great even as always. Got a team? Save a few bucks and register together.

We have a fleet of 10 professional photographers and videographers to shoot the site. Don’t be afraid if you see a drone in the air! Its part of the show. Photos and videos will be posted on the website as the become available. Be sure to check back and see how famous you have become.

REMEMBER….. we invest every single cent (and then some) we receive into the riders and helping others.

Don’t forget to bring a couple bucks for our many really cool pre-ride raffles.

Like to drink a cold one with your BBQ? Bring it no problem. Just be a smart responsible person.

This will be the #1 cycling event in CT!
