CT Cycling Advancement Program - Breakaway Benefit Ride - June 19th, Powder Ridge, Middlefield CT

The CT Cycling Advancement Program is a 501.c.3 charitable organization. They connect Connecticut's youth with cycling by offering teams and races that build health, personal values, and a lifelong love of the sport. They have over 400 kids involved in 29 school and community programs throughout our state.

A big part of their operating budget comes from their annual Breakaway Benefit ride, which is being held on June 19th this year, beginning and ending at Powder Ridge in Middlefield. There will be MTB and road rides of varying distances and skill levels. My wife Veronica and I are looking forward to staffing one of their road ride rest stops again this year, and are hoping to see some Eastern Bloc Cycling Club folks come out that day.

Look me up at the spring dinner tonight if you're interested in riding, or simply register here:

If you can't join us for the ride but would still like to make a donation to this worthwhile cause, your donations in any amount are greatly appreciated: Shameless plug for my kid's fundraiser page

Still on the fence about doing this ride or donating? Now is your chance - donations made to CCAP before 5/29 are being matched dollar-for-dollar, by a generous CCAP supporter.

Three days before the benefit ride, Wyatt and I will be riding one mile for every $10 donated. Join us for a lap or two (or twelve) on the East River / West River loop as we ride a century that day (6/16) in appreciation of our sponsors. Wyatt's fundraiser page My fundraiser page

THANKS!

Wyatt and I decided that we would ride one mile for every $10 donation.

Well, thanks to an outpouring of support from family, friends, co-workers and people who just plain want to see us suffer (Tim Wern, Daniel Dudzik) , we will each be riding 112 miles this Thursday ... that's 13 laps around the East River Road / West River Road loop. We'll start early in the AM, and take a break for lunch (and to apply some fresh chamois creme). Maybe do our final lap as part of this week's dumpster ride. Hoping to have some friends there to inspire us to get over the 100 mile barrier.

Jeff/Wyatt:

Just added a little to your cause, don't worry about the additional mileage. (Doubt if anyone cares if you actually complete the mileage , your caring/ effort is worth the money). Will be out there with my cowbell to cheer you on.

Walt and Betsy.

Thanks very much Walt and Betsy!

To break up the monotony, we decided we're going to start out by taking a ride from New Hartford center to Granby, to visit my parents. Will probably also take a trip up to the Colebrook General Store, having lunch there or at the Riverton General Store. Will finish the miles with an afternoon of laps on East River / West River. Hoping to catch some EBCC and Amigos folks along the way.
